Chinook Cycle Club, Inc. "REVISED 6-13-06
2006 Time Trial Series
The Chinook Time Trial Series is a weekly Time Trial training event. This
series will begin on Tuesday, April 4, 2006, and will continue each Tuesday evening
through October 3, 2006, except for no ride on July 4. Each Tuesday the event
starts at 5:45 PM (with some exceptions as noted). The series will include
5-mile (7), 10-mile (7), 40K (5), and Hill Climb (6) events.
The 5-mile events will be held on Locust Grove Road. Take I-82 south from
Kennewick toward Umatilla. Locust Grove Rd. is at exit 114. Take a right
on Locust Grove and go approximately ½ mile to the church parking lot. The
route will go west on Locust Grove for 2.5 miles from the start line in front of
the church, turn around just before the end of the pavement, and return to the start/finish
line.
The 10-mile events will be held on Jacobs Road. The start/finish line will
be on Jacobs Road ¼ miles West of Dallas Road
(close to I-82 Exit 104).
REVISED 6-13-06!
Starting June 13 the 10-mile event will be moved to Northwest Pasco.
The start/finish line will be on Harris Rd, just before the sharp corner at
the Harris Rd/Broadmore/Rd. 100 stop sign.
Take Exit 7 off of I-182. Go North to Sandifur Pkwy. Turn right,
then left into the first (Lourdes) parking lot.
Start line is about .3 miles from parking.
Route goes towards the river on Harris Rd., which becomes Shoreline Rd along
the river. A sharp turn away from the river becomes Dent Rd. Continue
on Dent, up the hill, full length of North/South portion, East around a sharp turn
for about another .3 miles to the turnaround. Retrace route to the start line
for the finish.
It is important to observe the center-line rule (do not cross the center line)
on this course, as it is difficult to see oncoming traffic at some corners.
The 40 km event will be on Badger Road, starting a couple hundred yards SW of the
I-82 overpass. The route will go west on Badger Road to Dallas Road.
Turn right on Dallas for 1 km. Turn around to return to Badger Road and continue
west on Badger Road to Webber Canyon Road. Turn around at Webber Canyon and
return to the starting point WITHOUT the Dallas Road detour. There is a wide
shoulder under the I-82 overpass for parking.
The Hill Climb will be held on S. Nine Canyon Road in Finley. From Kennewick,
take Chemical Road to Finley. Take a Right (South) on S. Haney Rd. Continue
straight South past E. Game Farm Road (to the Left), where S. Haney Rd. becomes
S. Nine Canyon Rd. Go up the first abrupt hill to the Finley Elementary School.
Parking is in the school parking lot. The start is on S. Nine Canyon Rd. at
the school turnoff. The finish is marked just before the gravel starts at
the top of the grade (five miles).
The schedule and location is as follows: (Ride Window: Don’t start before
first time and finish by last time.)
